Our strength is the goodwill that the college enjoys among the public of puttur. Parents of our studens and our Old Students are spread over the whole globe. our alumni have responded favourably to our request to be partners in progress and development while the P.T.A. has contributed to our growth in various forms. This was specially noted by the NAAc during their last visit. Our Old Students have re-grouped once again to increase their activities.
For more than four decades, the college has been running a Free Mid-day-meal-Scheme for the students coming from weaker sections of the society. Many have benifitted from this and at present more than a hundred students benefit from this scheme. The P.T.A. has been supporting us in a big way in reaching out to such students.
A Health Centre is being maintained in the campus to provide emergency aid and medical check-up where qualified doctors are rendering free service. The Centre is being sponsored by the P.T.A. of the College.
Mangalore University conducts the examinations at the end of each semester for a maximum of 80 / 120 marks (as the case may be) in each subject. The internal assessment for 20/30 marks in each subject is based on the performance in the two class tests – and sometimes, also on assignments, viva-voce and Project works as prescribed by the college and the University. Mangalore University is contemplating several changes and these will be promptly implemented here too once the statutes are passed. We are proud that we have a credible examination system in place.
Vivekananda College Employees’ Co-op. Society operates a stationery stores which fulfils the needs of the hostellers and the day-scholars. It also provides banking facility (S.B. Account) and phone facility at reasonable rates.
A commercial bank operates inside the campus. It becomes much easier for students to transact without going outside the campus. Also it is useful for paying their fees. Added to this the bank has A.T.M. Facility.
